Fantastic Field Trips: Part 1

TAKE YOUR TIME

Often times when teachers take their class on a field trip they feel like they have to see the whole museum/zoo/park/(insert your trip here). DON’T! Learners like to savor what they are seeing. Pick the parts you really want them to see and give them time to explore.

It took my first and second grade class 4 trips to the Denver Zoo to really explore all of the Rain Forest animals.

I know it is difficult for teachers to rent buses, get permission slips signed and all of the logistics, but remember one great day in the Native American art section of the art museum is better than trying to see it all and not really seeing any of it.
