Fine Arts in Colorado
This is the most well known art museum in Colorado. I have utilized the arts programs they have for students. The programs have been interesting and hands on. The knowledge field trip leaders is variable, but I have had more positive experiences than not.
As an connoisseur of new art I enjoy going to First Fridays on Santa Fe. The first friday of every month there are art openings at most of the galleries on Santa Fe. Check out the link for more details. I have never taken students to this event as it is on Friday night. I have however seen student shows at this event. This might be a good resource to find artists to come into your classroom and talk about their creative process.
Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center
I have heard wonderful things about this museum. The web site has a neat link were you can critique a piece of art. This would be a fun way to practice this skill.
